Materials for RFID Labels

3M Converter Markets now offers a line of specialty label materials for passive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) labels. The passive RFID labels digitally store information such as identity, activity, location, and history. When the labels are activated by a reader, they broadcast to the reader so information can be downloaded into a computer for processing, analysis, and storage. The reader does not require a line of sight. An RFID label on the inside or opposite side of a carton still transmits to the reader. A label consists of a 3M topcoat or overlaminate, 3M face stock, 3M pressure-sensitive adhesive, silicon chip, antenna, 3M transfer adhesive, and 3M release liner. The labels can be used in a variety of applications, including retail supply chain, logistics automation in manufacturing, asset management and tracking, pharmaceuticals, automotive, and consumer electronics. 3M offers label materials to meet the needs of different industries. 3M Converter Markets, 1030 Lake Rd., Medina, OH 44256, 800-422-8116, fax: 877-722-5072, Web: www.3M.com/converter.
