National Graphics, Inc. (NGI), Brookfield, WI, announced it was awarded US Patent No. 7,136,185 “Corresponding Lenticular Imaging” on Nov. 14, 2006. “Correspondence” refers to the relationship between an interlaced image and the lenticular lens to which it will be applied. The invention disclosed in the patent reportedly provides a solution that allows the output resolution to be altered in anticipation of variances and taking control of the timing of the output device. NGI’s patent describes how the resolutions of the lenticular lens, the interlaced image, and the output device are put in harmony with each other, thereby reducing image degradation. The reported benefit is that an interlaced image is output with virtually no loss of data or pixels. Images are characterized by increasing clarity, reduced blurring and distortion, and less disjointed and more contiguous illusions of motion and depth.
