EFI Receives Environmental Printing Award

EFI, Foster City, CA, received the Silver award in Canada’s PrintAction Environmental Awards. EFI was recognized for its BioVu ink in the category for the most progressive environmental process from a vendor to the printing industry.

“We are pleased to be recognized in this prestigious award process,” says Scott Schinlever, vice president and general manager of EFI’s ink division. “EFI has made significant investments in reducing its own environment footprint and helping customers reduce theirs. Receiving this award validates our strategic direction towards environmentally responsible printing technologies, and it is gratifying that our commitment is recognized by our peers.”

BioVu ink is part of a new class of bio-solvent inks, which reportedly contain no harmful VOCs and have significantly improved healthy and environmental profiles. BioVu is made from corn, and it is described as the first solvent-based ink built from a renewable resource. It’s designed for use in certain superwide-format printers in EFI’s VUTEk product line.
