The Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP) welcomed C&H Packaging into the fold of certified SGP printers. The Merrill, WI-based company handles printing, laminating, pouching, and branding for food and non-food products.
The SGP Partnership is an independent, non-profit certification organization formed as a collaboration among the Flexographic Technical Association, Printing Industries of America, Specialty Graphic Imaging Association, and National Association of Printing Ink Manufacturers with the primary goals of defining sustainable green printing and recognizing facilities that have met established manufacturing and business practices. Since beginning the certification program one year ago, the SGP Partnership now has 10 certified members and more than 50 applicants working through the certification process.
To be an SGP certified green printer, C&H had to meet all applicable environmental, health, and safety requirements along with establishing a sustainability team, implementing a sustainability management system, the use of SGP program metrics, taking steps to reduce environmental footprint, and implementing pollution-prevention activities.
