Sustainable Green Printing Partnership’s Sustainability Event Breaks Records

The Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP), the leading authority in sustainable printing certification for print manufacturers, held its first regional community event at Bolger LLC in Minneapolis, MN on Nov. 6, 2020, with more than 50 people in attendance from across the print supply chain.

“Sustainability at Bolger: An SGP Community Event” provided attendees with a wealth of information as they heard from those practicing and implementing sustainability practices in their respective workplaces. The major theme emerging from all presentations was the continued need for transparency and that there are advancements and opportunities to overcome sustainability’s challenges.

“We are environmentally sound today and we will be even better next year because of SGP,” stated Dik Bolger, President & CEO of Bolger where the event was hosted. He continued, “Measurement is critical as it is how you show improvement. We can all get better. If you do not measure, and you talk green, it is simply greenwashing.”

In addition to an overview of SGP and Bolger’s program, the agenda m included a range of sustainability topics relevant to the printing industry. Lynn Hoffman of Eureka Recycling, a local non-profit municipal recycling facility spoke about the opportunities and limitations of recycling. Brian Barrett of SGP Patron 3M discussed the opportunities and challenges of developing greener materials. Bradley Vogel, from the US Bank Stadium presented on the initiatives the stadium implemented to make it one of the most sustainable sports arenas in the country. And, Connor McNutt, Chief of Staff for Rep. Ilhan Omar welcomed attendees to the event.

SGP’s next Community Event will be held in Seattle, WA on Jan. 15, 2020. To learn more about the event, please contact Phoebe Scherer at marketing@sgppartnership.org.
