The new version of EFI’s PrintMessenger PDF-generating driver is designed to allow print-service providers to choose to remove the shortcuts that route print jobs to other print-service providers from the user interface of Adobe Acrobat applications. PrintMessenger is a standard feature of EFI’s Digital StoreFront Web-to-print platform. Version 3.0 creates a “File-Print” link to the user’s own shop from within Adobe Acrobat, as well as other Apple Macintosh or Windows applications. Print-service providers and/or their customers can decide whether or not to remove the link to other print-service providers upon installation of the PrintMessenger software. The software can be downloaded from the print-service provider’s own EFI Digital Storefront Website, or it can be deployed in an enterprise environment via standard MSI installers. EFI says through PrintMessenger, users print to Digital StoreFront via an installed virtual printer. The print driver then provides a PDF conversion workflow, and the print shop receives print-ready PDF files that are converted at the source where file assets reside. Users can print to the print shop from virtually any software application using Macintosh or Windows. PrintMessenger also comes standard with all DSF platforms.
