Techkon Instruments recently unveiled the SpectroDens, a color-measurement tool the company says offers unparalleled precision. SpectroDens features solid-state engineering, G7 integration, individual ink-zone-trending data, CMYK conversion data, LCD backlit display, and more. It also displays L* a* b* measurements and recommends adjustments. SepctroDens’s CMYK Color Catcher works with the target press ICC profile, measures spot or process CMYK colors, and delivers percentage values needed to re-create the color. The unit also measures L* a* b*, dot percentage, and overprint-color values against the ISO 12647-2 standard. An optional color checker (tiles, wheel, and software) is available.
