PJ Brassard of Albany, NY-based LogosPrint.com is the grand-prize winner in the first Roland Vehicle Graphics Contest. The competition called on designers to create vehicle graphics for a Scion xB.

“I’m so excited and overwhelmed to be the winner,” Brassard says. “Roland has just made our year.” The grand-prize win entitled Brassard to a new Roland VersaCAMM SP-300V 30-in. inkjet printer/cutter and an expense-paid trip to Las Vegas for the SGIA 2006 conference. Brassard’s design was selected from more than 400 entries. A panel of judges evaluated the submissions for creativity, effectiveness, and technical quality. Judging took place August 1 at Roland’s Irvine, CA headquarters.

Other finalists included first runner up Steve Chartrand of Stevo Design, Devon, Alberta, Canada; second runner up Dave Dufaux of Mobile Image, Laval, Quebec, Canada; and third runners up Gerald Dominguez of San Angelo, TX-based Agony Ann Art & Design, Geri Seiberling of Carlisle, IA-based ETC Graphics, and Florin Gavriluta of Toronto, Ontario, Canada-based Benex, Inc. Honorable mentions went to Bill Decker of La Grange, CA-based Mr. Bill’s Workshop, John Deaton of Harlan, KY-based Deaton Design, and Troy Seel of Madison, IN-based Heitz Sign Co.

“We are pleased to congratulate all our contest winners on their extraordinary design work,” says Brain McLeod, managing director for Roland’s Color Products Div. “We would also like to recognize everyone who participated. The response to the contest was overwhelming, and the level of skill and creativity among entries was outstanding by every measure.”
