A new survey from SGIA’s Surveys & Statistics division reveals some of the way screen and digital printers are cutting costs in their businesses. For example, 67% of industrial-use printers and 44% of garment decorators reported that they’ve limited their deliveries, while two-thirds of respondents in the industrial segment put their focus on bring down the numbers of defects and reprints.

Fifty-six percent of garment decorators in the study and 67% of industrial-use specialists found the price of fuels as the most notable boosts in their costs in 2008. Electricity was the biggest expense for 67% of graphics imagers. Among the most popular strategies for saving, according to SGIA’s study, are concentration on more efficient use of media and inks, energy conservation, and staff or service cutbacks.
