I CAN’T BELIEVE it’s been a year since I’ve had the honor of presenting my first-ever Screen Printing magazine’s Women in Screen Printing Awards at the 2024 Printing United Expo. In my decades of experience as a printing industry editor, I’ve seen first-hand female leadership continue to rise as it has since the beginning of our industry.

Women-owned screen-printing businesses as well as the talented and dedicated ladies who work for their companies are nothing new. We’ve been here all along, although somewhere along the way in its infancy, the printing industry became known as male dominated. It’s been a long, committed struggle for women to get the rightful recognition they deserve not only for their creative talents as excellent printers, but also as business owners, managers, community leaders, philanthropic donors, and much more.

So, 6 years ago, Screen Printing magazine took the lead and created these prestigious awards to celebrate the incredible accomplishments of six female industry leaders who go above and beyond being successful business owners or executives.

In this issue, we raise our glasses through the individual profiles of each winner in this month’s feature, but also in a live ceremony at Printing United Expo in Orlando on October 23 from 4:00-5:00 pm in the Screen Printing/Big Picture/Signs of the Times booth, #480. It will honor each of the winners in a formal presentation of their awards. It’s a time for the winners to thank their teams, without whom this kind of recognition wouldn’t be possible. I think they’d all be the first to tell you that no one reaches great heights alone.

This award not only is about success in their own shops for technical and creative expertise, but also for their contributions to local and national leadership, progressive responsibility, and community awareness.

All women were nominated by third parties, including colleagues, employees, vendors, and other industry observers. We’d like to thank our sponsors who have helped make this esteemed awards program possible: Bella + Canvas, Nazdar, STAHLS, Printing United, and the Women in Print Alliance.
