More than 200 people attended the second annual Bill Anderson Charity Classic, held Monday, June 19 at Southview Country Club in St. Paul, MN. The event is named after the late Bill Anderson, who owned St. Paul, MN-based Midwest Sign & Screen Supply Co. Of those who participated, 125 golfers took to the greens to raise awareness and funds for PanCAN and CaringBridge. The event raised more than $50,000 for the two organizations from sponsorships, flat donations, and from those who made the journey from all over the country.

The golf tournament presented several opportunities to tee off for a good cause. Mulligans were for sale (the chance to choose one extra shot during a round), a putting contest was held, and a target hole was set up during the tournament. Raffle tickets also were sold for a chance to win one of several donated prizes, from Titleist irons to an i-Pod. This year’s event featured an auction that brought in more than $2300. Tickets to the 3M Senior Championship and items signed by Joe Mauer of the Minnesota Twins and Paul Molitor, a 2004 Hall of Fame inductee, were among the lots on the auction block.

A dinner held after the tournament started with a welcome from Nancy Peterson Anderson, CEO of Midwest, followed by the keynote speech from Sona Mehring, founder and director of CaringBridge. Jim Fisher, Midwest’s president and COO, joined Roger Olson, Midwest’s VP of market analysis, in handing out $75 gift certificates to some of the dinner group and awards for holes played on the course and raffle items donated for the event.

Next year’s Bill Anderson Charity Classic is scheduled for June 18, 2007 at Southview Country Club in St Paul.
