Brother DTG’s new GTX printer features three times the number of nozzles as the company’s previous model

Brother Releases Next-Gen DTG Printer

Larger print size, faster single-pass printing among new features.

Brother DTG’s new GTX printer features three times the number of nozzles as the company’s previous model, enabling single-pass printing at 1200 x 1200 dpi. The white printhead is stacked behind the CMYK heads, and the print driver can be set to pause for a specified period of time between the laydown of the white underbase and the colors on difficult, more absorptive fabrics. The GTX can print images up to 16 x 21 in., and a high head-to-substrate gap enables printing over seams, pockets, zippers, and other non-uniform surfaces. A white ink recirculation system reportedly minimizes nozzle clogging, while a wet capping station prevents ink from drying on the bottom of the nozzle plate. The unit comes with the new Graphix Lab software that allows users to import artwork; add text; rotate, size, and position image elements; and apply artistic effects. Also new for the GTX are Innobella Textile water-based pigment inks, said to deliver a wider color gamut. The inks are Eco-Passport certified by Oeko-Tex and CPSIA-compliant.
