Sawgrass Technologies’ ChromaBlast combines ink, media, and driver software to create customized images on cotton. Sawgrass says the key to ChromaBlast is the chemical bonding between the ink and the coating on the media. A cross-link reaction between the ink chemistry and the media coating under heat and pressure chemically bonds the image to the cotton. Non-image areas transfer but wash away. Users create or import artwork in graphic-design software, such as CorelDRAW or Adobe Photoshop, customize and control color output through the ChromaBlast driver, and print the image using ChromaBlast inks and media and a standard Epson inkjet printer. A heat press is then used to bond the image to cotton. Sawgrass Technologies, 2233 Hwy. 17 N., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29466, 843-884-1575, Web: www.sawgrassink.com.
