At the ISA Sign Expo in April, HP (www.hp.com) unveiled the HP Scitex 11000 Industrial Press, the successor to the discontinued HP Scitex FB10000 line. HP quotes a max. print speed of 6996 sq ft/hr (the equivalent of 127 full-sized sheets) for the 11000, which features the company’s new Smart Coat Technology, applying a thin protective clear layer that HP says may eliminate the need for an additional overcoat or laminate in some applications. The 6-color printer (CMYKLcLm) can print rigid or flexible sheets up to 63 x 126 in. and up to 1 in. thick.

The 6-color printer (CMYKLcLm) can print rigid or flexible sheets up to 63 x 126 in. and up to 1 in. thick. It contains 312 printheads using the company’s High Dynamic Range technology, employing three dots sizes (15, 30, and 45 pL). The printer uses HP’s HDR250 Scitex inks, quoted for up to 2 years of outdoor weather resistance, supplied in 10-L cartridges. HP offers a choice of manual, semiautomatic, and ¾-automatic configurations; systems for fully automatic loading are available through HP partners. Up to four sheets can be printed simultaneously with an optional multi-sheet loader kit.
