Ernest is no stranger to the printing industry as he worked in his parent’s print shop, Lompa Printing, which started in 1967 with two small presses and a paper cutter eventually growing to 25 employees.

“When we established our own business in 1990, we chose the name On Line Bindery to convey the fact that “we’re ready to go” with our machines “on line, up and running” ready to produce your next job,” explained Lompa. “Surprisingly, we did not take our name from the use of Internet, email or on-line ordering, since it really didn’t exist. Our current logo includes the Eagle picked by my parents when they started their company. We are an independent, freedom loving family and to us, the Eagle represents that and the American values we strongly believe in.”

Last year, On Line Bindery was looking to increase its support to customers by offering UV coating capabilities with the addition of a high precision screen press.

“We like to buy the best equipment available on the market and did extensive research before zeroing in on a manufacturer. Every single person we spoke to said Sakurai was the way to go. In fact, one of our employees, Steve Wignall, our UV coating and laminating specialist previously owned his own company and had considerable experience with coating using Sakurai presses, which was also a big determining factor,” Lompa added.

“Last October we attended Sakurai’s Technology Showcase Open House in Schaumburg, Illinois where we had an opportunity to see several Sakurai screen press models in operation. We asked a lot of questions of a knowledgeable staff, including Sakurai senior management and ultimately selected a 29” x 41” Sakurai Maestro MS-110A cylinder screen press with a Natgraph UV drying system. The Sakurai Maestro looks like a quality machine that was well engineered and manufactured by skilled professionals,” Lompa said.

“The Sakurai press has enabled us to offer our customers a wide range of spot and flood UV coating options as well as specialty finishes including gloss, satin, matte, soft touch, sandpaper, pearlescent, scratch off, metallic, glow in the dark, scented scratch-n-sniff, with other capabilities to follow,” added Lompa.

True to its bindery roots, On Line Bindery offers a full array of binding solutions including saddle stitch, perfect binding, layflat binding with PUR glue and all mechanical binding options. They also provide film lamination, foil stamping, embossing, die cutting, packaging design and CAD prototypes for their clients.

“During the purchase and installation process, we had excellent communication with the team at Sakurai, and our new press has been operating flawlessly, producing high quality work in perfect registration for the past several months.”

"On Line Bindery is an impressive, progressive company and we are extremely pleased they selected a Sakurai Maestro screen press equipped with a Natgraph Drying/Curing System to allow them to grow their UV and specialty finishing business,” said Brian Johnson, Regional Sales Manager, Sakurai USA, Inc. “We wish them continued growth and success.”

Planning ahead for the future, On Line Bindery is positioning themselves for the next generation of the Lompa family to run their prospering business.
