Onyx Appoints Jeffrey Despain R&D director

Onyx Graphics, Inc., recently announced that Jeffrey (Jeff) L. Despain has been named director of R&D. He oversees the engineering teams dedicated to producing the company’s workflow software products including ONYX Thrive print workflow software; ONYX ProductionHouse, ONYX PosterShop, and ONYX RIPCenter RIP software; and the SmartApps line of plug-ins.

Onyx Graphics, Inc., recently announced that Jeffrey (Jeff) L. Despain has been named director of R&D. He oversees the engineering teams dedicated to producing the company’s workflow software products including ONYX Thrive print workflow software; ONYX ProductionHouse, ONYX PosterShop, and ONYX RIPCenter RIP software; and the SmartApps line of plug-ins.

Despain comes to Onyx Graphics from Digital Gateway, a business-management and enterprise-resource planning-software company where he served as director of product development and solutions architect. Prior to that, he was the owner and president of OutSoft Development, a provider of software development vendor services with several clients currently on the Fortune 500 list of America’s largest corporations. Before OutSoft, he consulted as a senior software architect at HP’s Boise division, where he supervised software partner integration programs for HP’s first line of multi-function peripherals. He has also held software development and engineering positions at KWI, Micron Technology, and Intel Corporation.

Despain holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Weber State University. He is based at Onyx Graphics headquarters in Salt Lake City, UT.
